Little jack-o-lantern wishing you a Happy Halloween

And just like that… Halloween is just a few weeks away! If you enjoy dressing up but are a bit stumped about what to wear, you’ll be happy to know that there are several orthodontic-friendly options. In fact, here are five fun, easy costumes with braces.

Darla – Finding Nemo

Who could forget Darla, the evil villain wrapped up in pigtails and a purple sweater? Since her braces are a big part of her “look,” this is the perfect Halloween costume for a Finding Nemo enthusiast. Plus, it’s an easy look to put together – all you need is a purple sweater and a plastic bag filled with water!

Kari the Babysitter – The Incredibles

The Incredibles is an extremely popular movie. In fact, it was the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2004! While none of the “main” characters have braces, there is one lovable character who does: Kari the babysitter. To pull this costume together, put your hair in a ponytail, wear a yellow and white t-shirt, and you’ll be all set.

Mikey – The Goonies

An 80s classic, The Goonies is a beloved film that depicts Mikey and his friends on their hunt for One-Eyed Willy’s treasure. Between the crazy adventures and hilarious moments, you may have forgotten that Mikey also has braces! So, all you need is jeans, a gray sweater, and a denim jacket to pull the costume together.

Josie Geller – Never Been Kissed

Never Been Kissed is a rom-com starring the much-loved Drew Barrymore. In it, we see flashbacks to her prom night, complete with braces, a side ponytail, and a pink, shiny dress. To dress the part, all you really need is an 80s prom dress, which should be easy to find at your local thrift store or online.

Sid – Toy Story

Are you a fan of Toy Story? Then you probably remember Sid, the sinister neighbor of Andy. Not only is he a great villain, but you can put this costume together mostly with stuff that’s already in your closet, like jeans and a black t-shirt.

Don’t worry – the start of orthodontic treatment doesn’t mean the end of fun Halloween costumes. In fact, now there are even more options to pursue since you have braces to pull off the entire look!
